"Agrahari also known as the Agarhari is a community which is believed to the descendent of king Agrasen and hence they got their name the Agrahari". King Agrasen is known as the founder of the empire of traders in Agroha which is now a place of great importance in Hissar district of Haryana, India. The Agrahari falls into the Vaishya community and is further divided into many subgroups. The Agrahari community is also considered to be a part of the Agarwal community. They are spread all cross India in parts like Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, west Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Punjab, Orissa, etc. Most of the Agrahari are Hindu and follow the ideals and principles of Hinduism, although some of them are sikh as well Muslims too. In some regions the Agrahari community people are also known as Baniyas. As per the origin of the clan, the Agrahari community is profusely involved traditional trading business and are also involved in other business sectors too. The Agrahari community often use their community name as their surname but all of them do the same, some use other surnames too.
